A Mix of Methods, training #1 [p]

I groaned

as I stepped outside of my den, a dreadful yawn parting my lips as I wandered into camp.  I trotted to the freshkill pile and snatched a small mountain bird.  I padded towards the apprentices' den.  I laxly poked my head in, taking a moment to adjest my sight to the darkness.  "You, Fishpaw, meet me at the training clearing after you eat," I called out before retreating out of camp.  I headed down a winding trail, turning off to the side and shortly reaching a grassy area.

I was going to teach Fishpaw about technique.  Meaning this being a mix of all methods for both hunting and fighting.  My blood was pumping and I was slightly excited to train an apprentice after such a long while.

Fishpaw blinked sleepily as a voice shattered his dream, causing him to wake. The leader, apparently also his mentor, was calling for him. Great, it's about time. I was starting to wonder whether I'd ever get trained.

Rolling to his paws and shaking a few scraps of moss out of his pelt, the apprentice trotted out of his den. It looked as if Ebonystar has already left. Fishpaw wasn't too sure where the training clearing was, seeing as he'd never left camp before, but he decided that he could probably track the she-cat's scent there. It couldn't be all that difficult. Right?

Ears twitching, the grey tabby plopped himself down next to the fresh-kill pile in order to devour a mouse. Within a few moments, he was left with a pile of small bones, which he scattered with a flick of his paw. Somewhat irritated that he would not have the time to relax and groom his face, Fishpaw settled with a quick lick of his lips. He stepped out of camp hesitantly, jaws parted in an attempt to pick up the leader's scent.

With so few cats in StoneClan, it wasn't long before he detected his mentor's scent trail and began to follow it. The young tom eventually came to the aforementioned clearing and nodded briefly at the black-furred feline waiting there. "So, what are we doing first?"
